D Jon’s Bargainbee experience
I went to use a Bargainbee with Trang at D Jon’s Restaurant on Florida Blvd in BR yesterday. Passing the location on the road was strange. I barely noticed it. The exterior is unassuming and actually exudes a homey feel while walking up to it.
First Impressions:
Homey, VERY friendly staff, great atmosphere, felt upper middle to high class, especially with the menu and its high value items, buffet looked and smelled delicious… but hey, Bargainbee didn’t tell us we couldn’t use it on the buffet till we printed it out.
Mid Impressions: We ordered the crawfish etoufee to share, which was way too expensive for the cup. 6 bucks for a tiny portion. I got the “Baton Rouge Catfish” which was fresh fried catfish filet topped with crawfish etoufee. It wasn’t very much for what you paid for.. They forgot our salads. I also got the wrong vegetable order (I ordered a cooked vegetable medley) Then they forgot the potatoes that came with my dish. And then the garlic bread for both of us came after we finished our meals.
Trang got the Crawfish Fettuccini Alfredo.. Which was basically noodles with crawfish etoufee on top. Hers was pretty bland but there were a lot of noodles… … I thought this was soul food. Bland..?
Final Impressions: So remember I said that the buffet looked and smelled delicious? After eating their cooked to order dishes.. it all seemed a lot less appetizing. I won’t be coming back here. I can see why they needed Bargainbee to attract customers.
But hey, the staff was consistently friendly and courteous. The atmosphere also remained pleasant the whole way through.
